Hello again,
this time I want to adress the english speaking audience again. It has been a few days since I reported last and things actually haven't changed a lot in this country, only that issues of Kenya have given way to some other important things in the news, e.g. the Africa coup of nations in Ghana etc. Violence is still rocking some parts of the country, in particular the western region, Rift Valley and the slum areas of Nairobi. People are still dying because of their tribal affiliation and houses are still being burned and crops on the fields destroyed. Kenyas people are still looking at their country in disbelief and many of them do turn to God and ask for forgiveness. I preached two sermons yesterday in one of the towns nearby, touching the issue of justice and righteousness God requires. The comment I heard afterwards was saying that a Kenyan in this point in time cannot preach a sermon like that, because he will be judged by his tribal association and assumed political block he belongs to. Therefore I came to the realization that we as foreigners do have a special task at hand, that is to be agents of peace and reconciliation, to be bridgebuilders and facilitators.
Our Hospital is sending a team of Doctors to one of the most affected areas in the region, that is Molo not very far from the town of Eldoret, we expect a positive outcome from there.
We are thankful that despite the difficulties the country is facing right now, the school finally opened its doors for its students. The opening of the school was delayed for about 3 weeks, and now things are running, but it will be a lot more condensed than it used to be.
I'll write more in a few days so that I can keep you updated, Thomas
