Many years ago we received this photocopy from a friend in Wajir. I think it was within the first few months after we first got established there. I guess I was at the Telecom office applying for a phone line and we started talking about the people we desired to live together with.
I had this A4 paper in my documents for all these years and never even bothered to look for the author of this very interesting statement which stands there.
A summary of what this friend by that time has told me and has proven to be true. I looked it up on a website and found that Hanley wrote a whole book on his experience with the Somali people during the second world war.
I think it could be a very interesting book to read and get a better insight in the conflict in Somalia with its long history.
