Hello,
Today in the afternoon Benjamin called from RVA and said there was a total solar eclipse to be expected. We felt something a bit different than usual but couldn't quite figure out what it was. As soon as we knew and held our x-rays towards the sun it was clear that we were witnessing a fascinating and rare event in the sky. So what you see here is not the moon in the nightsky but the sun captured through an x-ray film while the moon is slowly but almost completely covering the sun. It was around 5:20 in the afternoon. I remember the days when we were living in Wajir that the Muslims would go to the mosque and pray to Allah that he would protect them because for sure this must be the end of the world. How fortunate are we to know that our God holds all things together through his word. Including the sun and the moon and also our lives that we live.
It was last Sunday that I had a chance to visit a little town in Eastern Kenya, a placed called Kathonzweni in Mwingi District. A friend and colleague of mine had invited me and the team you can see here below to minister in his church and also meet family and friends. With one friend I shared the message and we had great joy to speak of Jesus in this place and invite people to find peace and reconciliation through Him who makes all things well.
It isn't very long since Benjamin rides his 250cc motorbike, but he does it with great excitement and increasing skill. But his mom didn't want to be left behind. Yesterday was her day to get started on her first lesson on our piki, as we call it here in Kenya. It was a lot of fun to see her getting excited about the cool machine.
The last picture is Benjamin with his little brother on the carnival night at RVA. Everyone dresses up and the big ones spend the whole evening with the little ones and it is just cute to see the small cowboy look up to his big friend. We realize that every time we go for an event at RVA it could be the last one. As the year comes to an end so increase the activities at school. We thank God for the gift of Rift Valley Academy to us personally but also to the entire missionary community in East and southern Africa.
