english news

Hello,
here again some news from our side of the world here in Kenya. It has been a great week with agreements which ended the tension this country was gripped by now for more than 2 months.
Peace agreements were signed and powersharing was agreed on. We will have a Prime minister post for the first time in Kenyas history. It is pretty exciting to see what this country is going through these days. God definitely has held his hand on this land and spared it from further bloodshed and destruction. Still much work remains to be done but there is hope and a future. For the better part of this week I went on a Safari to the Northern part of Kenya, the area I love most. Together with a friend of mine I took a trip to a small town called Isiolo about 1 hour north of Mt. Kenya. That whole big area is dominated by Cushitic tribes, mainly Boranas and Somalis. We spent one night in a Borana village called Kinna where we were received very warmly. The next day we went on to that town Isiolo which really is sort of a gateway into the North of Kenya. We visited with friends and also looked for a house to rent for this friend of mine who is trying to establish a ministry among one of the tribal groups. We had a wonderful time and met with key people. We believe that the Lord is going to open doors for this ministry to flourish and bear lots of fruit. While I was out of the Hospital, Dorothy was extremely busy keeping everything going and running. At the moment we have lots of Somalis in our Hospital, (which is the case most of the days), and some of them have been with us for many weeks. There Dorothy can spend hours just talking with the mamas and sharing a bit of the love God has given to us and it gives them time to release some of their terrible experiences in a lawless country which is ruled by the power of the gun only. There is this one young 11 year old mohamed who fell off a truck 4 months ago in Mogadishu. In the process he shattered his pelvis completely and also the entire urinary tract has been cut. After an incredible long journey by road, passing Hargeisa in Somaliland, Addis Abeba in Ethiopia, he then finally reached our Hospital as the last hope. That is where he is being treated now and chances don't look to bad for him to survive and live a more or less normal life. We pray that this long long Safari may help him to see the true nature of God who loves people dearly so that he gave his only son, so that we can live.
Have a great week, Thomas
