Hello,
I left on Wednesday to go down to the coast for just a few days and came back last night. I flew in to Lamu Island and took a boat to get to a small village called Mokowe on the mainland. That is where a friend of mine who is now a coworker comes from. I visited with his family and got to know the extended family and friends as well as the people who benefited from recent Drought Relief efforts we undertook over the last year. The reason for my going there was to first of all meet some of the people we supported over the last year which was really encouraging. They were extremely appreciative and wondered why the Christians are helping and their Muslim friends and neighbours leave them. The key thing we did here is to look for the most needy and neglected of the society, the widows, the disabled, the outcast of society. And those people were just excited that somebody had remembered them in the time of need.
The other thing we are doing at the moment is to put up watertanks in a big Primary School in that particular village to keep our presence in that village and keep it open for the presentation of the Gospel.
The short trip gave me a good chance to hang out with my friends family and share stories with them. I also got to see the house construction progress which is taking place at the moment which was made possible through the donation of a good friend who used to work in Kijabe.
See you next time, Thomas
