Hello,
At the end of another week I just want to give a brief update on what has
happened this week. We are preparing for a conference starting the coming
week, where many workers from all kinds of different church groups and
mission agencies get together to network and share their experiences in the
particular area of operations where we are all in. We are all looking
forward to this time and hope for a new vision and a new direction and lots
of encouragement.
The days in the Hospital are very busy, lots of people know that we are in
and they would call before they arrive and beg for us to be there when they
see the doctor. Since some of the docs from the Hospital started going into
the Som. section of Nairobi the number of patients is again increasing. Like
last Wednesday the doc and I went down there and saw around 35 patients, and
the next day lots of them again showed up at our place to look for a
thorough checkup. And then, of course, they look for those people they
already know. These are wonderful opportunities to minister to them and meet
them at their point of need. For me it is interesting to see, that not even
the most intimate issues are a secret. Women call me to go with them to see
the Gynaecologist and explain their problem, and all that in a quite strict
muslim environment. Evidently there is a great deal of trust established and
that is a great gift and we want to use this for the glory of God.
On the political scene, the big players are still trying to agree on a
cabinet and a fair powersharing. They are not moving ahead very well, but we
are hoping and praying that for the sake of the country and its people they
would put their own interest aside and work together.
Have a great weekend, Thomas
