Hallo,
So viel wieder fuer heute, Thomas

news in english
Hi,
We are still here in Kenya, but I realize that the intervals are getting longer. That does not mean that life has become boring. I guess we are all busy doing our things and trying to make a difference in the lifes of people here in this country. We are so grateful that we can be here and even seeing the land healing and going through this process of restoring trust through forgiveness. It still will be a long walk, considering the fact that a huge number of internally displaced people are still holding out in large camps, waiting for something to happen, so that they can pick up the pieces again and start afresh.
I think it was just on Friday when we received a group of people from Eldoret. Eldoret is the town in Western Kenya which became known, when a church with many people inside was burned. Many of them were burned alive. But some of them came out through the fire and were later admitted in one of the government Hospitals. Nothing much was done for them there, but on Friday they were admitted in our Hospital and were for the first time treated in the appropriate way. For a couple of months we have a plastic surgeon in our place from the US and he may have to do some reconstructive surgery for some of those disfigured victims.
I personally was so happy for them, that they were finally able to be treated, but I was also saddened by the fact that they were left with little attention for so long. We can only imagine what the burns in their hearts and souls must be like. Just imagine you look for shelter and refuge in a church and people lock you in and pour petrol in and around the church, and these people are your neighbours and former friends and colleagues. They watch and cheer as the church goes up in flames. It is just unbelievable, but it happened and the victims are here with us.
Please pray for them as they heal, that their hearts and souls also receive healing.
Have a lovely week, Thomas
